Message From the Founder President

In February 1998, a group of enthusiastic MBA alumni from the University of Macau decided it was high time that the knowledgeable, the determined and the energetic should be brought together to serve the society, and in particular, its economic propellers - the business enterprises.

This team did not hesitate for a single second to agree that the best way they could contribute to the society is by bringing to practical use their wealth of management knowledge. This association is not meant to be a fraternity only. It is a group of professionals who are dedicated to promote what they believe in ¡V management excellence.

It is my honour to be one of this team and witnessed how this association came into being. The preparation phase was not without its challenges. During the initial phase, diverse opinions were brought forth and underlying problems surfaced. Nevertheless, members of the teama communicated, negotiated and accommodated, finally bringing around a commonly endorsed mission: to participate in the social and economic development of Macau and help to contribute to the practice of modern management principles among enterprises.

The establishment of the Association was a management process itself!

Lying immediately outside the doorstep of Macau is the Global Village. Local enterprises are facing a long list of challenges encountered elsewhere by their counterparts: formation of global markets, stringent ethical standards, a diversified workforce, new and fast-changing information technology, more powerful interest groups, an unprecedented concern for quality, speed and flexibility, and the pressure to innovate. In the modern world full of complexities, relying on intuition or just a hunch can be detrimental for any business concern. Various business research tools and techniques are available to help analyze, interpret and predict changes in the dynamic world better. On the firm level, management concepts and tools on organizational behaviour, human resources management, finance, marketing, production, and information system are well-tested to help solve everyday business issues and guide decision-making. For better understanding of these principles among enterprises, the Association plans to organize a series of training and development, research, social, and exchange activities.

The Macau MBA Association is here to contribute, though slightly at the beginning, to the competitiveness of business enterprises and the Macau society at large. United we stand. Your support is ardently sought after. May we work hand in hand for a prosperous future.

Virginia Trigo

The MMBAA Spirits

The logo of the Macau MBA Association is made up of the letters MMBAA. It
figures a pair of joint hands embracing a tower. The hands are colored red and green,
signifying the cultural characteristics of the Macau SAR - a city where East meets
West. The tower top stands for the culmination of this fusion.

The hands can be interpreted in several ways:
Silent Reflection,
Communication, Understanding, and Unity,
Dynamism, Vigor, and Competition.

The hands, in whatever manner, reach out for the tower of knowledge.
The peakless tower represents perseverance in the pursuit of knowledge.
The triangular shape symbolizes upward mobility.

In short this monogram speaks for itself the spirit of the Association:
Dynamism, Vigor, and Fusion.
